Although Mama really enjoys bringing you fabulous art and traditional wares; it also means a lot to her to have the opportunity to share the diverse history, peoples and cultures of Africa. You will notice that at the top of every stand in the Open Market, Mama shares information about the culture of the women who make the products and the history and importance of the art or traditional wares at the stand. Education is important to Mama Afrika.

That is why Mama now also brings you articles about Africa. You will also find a short quiz at the beginning of certain articles which will test your knowledge of the previous article's lesson.

The articles are written in themes which concern Africa and Africans. We will begin with the history of Africa to put the following lessons in context. Happy reading!
