Ethiopia is known as the home to humanity’s common ancestors. Archaeologists have
found the oldest known human remains in Ethiopia. It is also considered to be Africa’s
oldest state, known historically as Abyssinia, home to King Menelik I, son of Queen
Sheba and King Solomon.
Ethiopia is also famous for one of its other leaders, King Haile Selassie who managed
to make his nation the only African country which was never occupied while Europe
cut up the rest of the African continent for their own use. Other than Liberia,
Ethiopia is the only nation which remained independent during the colonization period
of Africa’s history.
Along with Egypt and Eritrea, it holds one of the longest traditions of Christianity
in Africa.
