When you donate through Mama,

100% of your donation goes to Africa!!

.

Here at Mama Afrika, we understand that most of you (like us) have had enough of scandals, abuse and neglect when it comes to donations given to large non-profit organizations.

The unfortunate situations such as abuse of funds by employees, high salaries of staff members at large organizations and the fact that most often donations received are used to pay administration costs, publicity and other costs have led people to say "NO MORE!"

Donations

Amount:

At Mama Afrika NONE of the money you donate through the site is used for anything other than helping the poor women and families that Mama Afrika works with. 100 percent... yes you read it right... every single cent of your donation will go directly to those organizations or individuals which Mama Afrika helps in Africa.

We are not an office full of people making their living off of your donation. The fact is that receiving donations is not our business. We simply offer this service to those of you who believe in what Mama Afrika is doing, but don't want to make a purchase every time you want to help out. Therefore, we remain a small company trying to help African women and children through trade and education.

You can be sure that your donation will be used in the spirit in which you gave it. It may be used to help a small group of women who help take in AIDS affected children in South Africa or just to give a helping hand to a cooperative member who has fallen on hard times.

You can even choose the country to which it will go. After reading the many stories about our cooperative members here on the site, if you have a preference and want to help a particular person; just e-mail and tell us to which person you want it to go. Mama is completely understanding of the fact that one person's story might touch you or that you may have your own personal reasons for wanting to help in Africa.

If you want the money to go to help a person with disabilities, Mama will do her best to match your donation to the right person. Or perhaps you are a single mom who knows how hard it is to get by and you'd like to help out an African woman with a small donation so she too can get by with her children. Let Mama know via e-mail and we'll make sure that your donation will get through to the right person.

Mama's promise to you concerning donations:

  1. Mama will forward 100 percent of your donation to those in need in Africa
  2. Mama gives you the choice as to which country you donate to; but will send it to those with the greatest current need if you do not specify your choice of country
  3. If you would like to send along a note with your donation, simply e-mail Mama after making a donation and I will forward your letter along to the group or individual who will receive your money.
  4. Mama Afrika donates to groups, cooperatives and individuals with whom she has a long-term working relationship. Therefore, she always knows how the funds are used and keeps track of the progress that the families and cooperatives are making.

The donation you make could be used for any of the following projects:

  • Funding a new cooperative member's apprenticeship or training program
  • Buying needed items such as food, clothing or school supplies for an African family
  • Assisting volunteers to pay for AIDS affected families meals or care
  • Investing in the formation of new small village cooperatives
  • Funding non-profit organizations such as MbwiraNdumva of Rwanda which provides councelling for genocide survivors
  • Small-scale environmental programs such as tree planting or recycling
  • Other projects as they may be identified, researched and approved by Mama Afrika in the future...
