It takes a village to raise a childNigeria
Kubira is one of the largest cooperatives that we work with. It currently has a membership of 405 artisans, over 90% of whom are women. They are an umbrella organization of smaller groups which work at the village level. There are members in 14 districts, covering all four corners of Uganda.
It has been an honor to have had a partnership with this cooperative since 2002 and we look forward to many more years to come. Thanks to your support, we have been able to send donations, educational, toys and financial assistance.
Recently, they shared this need with us:
"What we have been working on is for each house hold to be able to acquire a solar power kit (comprising two bulbs, and ability to charge a phone during the day). This will go a long way to improve the in-door air quality, enable children to read their books at night, save money used to charge phone and save time of taking/collecting their phones from the charging kiosks."
So, if you choose “Kubira” when making a donation to Mama Afrika, this is the project that you will be funding. Each solar kit costs $120
